About MeHello my name is Shamelle Ingram and I am excited to be your school counselor at Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte, N.C! I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy from UNC-Chapel Hill and my Master’s degree in School Counseling from George Washington University ( in Washington, DC). As your counselor, my goal is to make sure you are on track to graduate on to be Next Step Ready. I help students become ready for the next step by promoting academic, personal/social and career development. Additionally, I coordinate advertising student opportunities, scholarships and the NCAA Clearinghouse . In helping students to succeed, my motto comes from an ancient proverb: “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day; teach him how to fish, feed him for a lifetime.” (Think about it ). Let’s have a fantastic school year!

Why I do What I do
|
The 2017-2018 school year will be my fifth year as a school counselor and my 7th year in education. My passion for closing the achievement gap was ignited when I served as a College Adviser for the Carolina College Advising Corps through UNC-Chapel Hill. I worked in two underserved high schools in Durham, N.C. and fell in love with serving the high school population; I was able to see so much growth in my students in a short amount of time. Therefore I wanted to continue helping students connect to their post-high school plans. I am also a success story from a single-parent household and I want to empower students to use their struggles as a stepping stone to achieve greatness.
